Mandatory "Main instance categories"

I just noticed that I need to set “Main instance categories” to be able to change any of the other settings under “Platform information”. My server doesn’t have any specific main categories, so why do I have to set it? I’m not sure if it’s always has been like this. I’m using v8.0.0-rc.1 now.

“Main languages you/your moderators speak” also seem to be mandatory. I guess that makes more sense, but I don’t see why I need to set it to be able to change “Server country”.

Hi,

What do you mean by « I need to set it to be able to change “Server country”. »?

Do you have an error message?

I’m sorry, I should have included the error message. It said something like: “Main instance categories” and/or “Main languages” is missing. And the result was that I couldn’t save the change to other settings like “Server country”.

Now, I can’t recreate it, because I’ve set both “Main instance categories” (I selected all of them, since I don’t have any real main categories) and “Main language”, and I can’t unset them.

Actually, I can’t even change the list of categories any more. After I press save, the list is reset to what it was. Also, local-production.json is unchanged, even if I don’t get any errors. I may not remember this correctly, but I think this worked at least a bit better yesterday. When looking at the web view, it didn’t seem like the changes were saved, but according to local-production.json it was. Something like that.

I’m admin on another instance as well (using 7.3.0), and something similar happens there. There having main categories actually makes sense, so I’ve set them earlier. Now, I tried to add an extra category, just for testing, and now I can’t remove it. Also, the counting is wrong. It says “4 items selected”, but it’s actually 3 (including the one I can’t remove).

Thank you, it should be fixed by Fix reseting instance categories/languages · Chocobozzz/PeerTube@f74f6e5 · GitHub
