Hi everyone,
I’ve released Ambient Light, a plugin that adds an Ambilight-style glow around the video player: the colors at the edges of the video softly spill into the page around it.
Features
- Glow on all four sides, including the player’s own black bars
- Bulb button and
Akey to toggle; a settings panel with presets (Subtle, Balanced, Vivid) and sliders for spread, blur, brightness, saturation and smoothness - Immersive mode: the glow fills the whole page behind the content, with readable text in light and dark themes
- Detection of black bars burned into the video
- Works in embedded players (opt-in for admins)
- Admin settings: enabled by default, default preset, whether viewers can customize, a frame rate limit
- Respects reduced-motion settings
Compatibility: PeerTube 7.0 or later, tested on 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3.
Install: search « ambient » in Administration → Plugins/Themes → Search, or:
peertube-cli plugins install --npm-name peertube-plugin-ambient-light
