Turning off fallback to Web Video

I have Web Video disabled in the settings but I look like the player, when something goes wrong with playing the video, still tries to fall back to it.

I see in Safari’s console ‹ Fallback to Web Video › and the player stalls since I do not have any web-video files generates on my instance.

Does this behavior come from the player? The Browser? The Server? And is there a way to turn it off?

Thanks!

Hi,

Can you share the URL of this video?

@Chocobozzz sure thing: here

I’m not 100% sure what it causing the initial timeout either at this point. It seems to happen randomly after I play the video for a while. Byterange access fails but succeeds if I reload the page and place the video at the same spot.

The video data is now in a S3 bucket with CDN enabled. Is it possible that the CDN gets rid of the data while the video is falling behind while playing?

It seems I can reproduce, the video plays fine even after a few minutes.

How long does it take for you to notice the problem?
