Upgrade PostgreSQL container

Hi,

Few month ago I tried to upgrade my PostgreSQL container following guide here.

Thank you for such a detail guide, for a noob like me it is a breath.

But I run into issue that Peertube couldn’t connect to database anymore after upgrade. So I stop there, use my old PostgreSQL version and let this problem be handle by future me.

Now, Peertube V8.3.0 need a least PostgreSQL 14. Well future me have work to do, and I run in same issue than the first time, no connection to database due to wrong password.

After looking how PostgreSQL works, how to connect, to modify table and finally succeeding to make Peertube to connects to Upgraded database, I look back at the end of guide and it seems (I 'm still a noob) there is ;missing in last command psql -U "$POSTGRES_USER" -c "ALTER USER $POSTGRES_USER WITH PASSWORD '$POSTGRES_PASSWORD'".

Instead shouldn’t it be psql -U "$POSTGRES_USER" -c "ALTER USER $POSTGRES_USER WITH PASSWORD '$POSTGRES_PASSWORD';"

I really love Peertube and thank you for that beautiful software !

Thank you! It should be fixed by Fix missing ; in sql command · Chocobozzz/PeerTube@faa76ba · GitHub and will be updated on the documentation website soon

I’m glad it helps.

At first I wanted to update to PostgreSQL 18 but it throw me error in logs, so I use PostgreSQL 17. I search a little and PostgreSQL 18 have a different directory for data and docker-compose file have to be change.

Thank you, I’ll add a comment in our docker compose template.
