Video Playback Issue on Android 10 (Xtrons PX6)

Dear Team,

I’m new to PeerTube and am using a Linux installation (no Docker). Everything works perfectly on newer devices, but I am encountering an issue with my older Android 10 system in the car (Xtrons PX6).

After installing the app, it starts correctly (though it throws an « unsupported » message, it still launches). I can connect to my instance via IPSec without any issues. However, when I try to play any videos, I get the following error:

PlatformException(VideoError, Video player had error e1.m: MediaCodeVideoRenderer error, index=0, format=Format(1, null, video/mp4, video/avc, avc 1.64001F, 328000, und, [720, 720, 25.0, Colorinfo(BT709, Limited range, SDR SMPTE 170M, false, 8bit Luma, 8bit Chroma)], [-1,-1]), format_supported=YES, null, null)

Could you help me identify if the issue is related to codecs or suggest any troubleshooting steps? I’m wondering if I should try different transcoding options or something else.

Thank you for your hard work—this ecosystem looks very promising!

Best regards,

Jaroslav

Minor update: When I try the Chrome app on the same device, the videos play without issue.

Android 10 clients are experiencing difficulties, Also, the official Peertube app doesn’t work on my Android 10.

Was this written by an AI? Apparently, this doesn’t correspond to reality.
