We're looking for Mobilizon community reprensentatives

We Kaihuri have been promised a grant by NLNet, to take Mobilizon further (NLnet; Empowering Mobilizon).

Out of all the issues, which one to focus on first?
To help us prioritize and refine the backlog, we’re looking for volunteers - maybe that could be you?

  • What’s in for you as a volunteer

You can advocate for the issues which matter to you.

Being in direct touch with the development team, you can ensure that they understand your requirements so that they are taken into consideration.

More important, you can take pride in actively working on a great open source project and collaborate with free software supporters from all over the world .

  • What you commit to

You will be officially listed as Mobilizon community representative.

You must express development requirements in Framasoft / Mobilizon · GitLab.

When asked by the development team, you should tell which developments have the highest priority for you. It can be by putting a thumb up on framagit, or by answering a form, or during a short call. The way of working is not defined yet, but consider your involvement would be around hour per month.

  • Who can apply

We open this call to anybody.

We’re very keen to work with instance admins who have an established community of users.

We’re also interested in end users point of view, and group administrators.

We’re even interested in persons who are not using Mobilizon at all – but would use it if it would fulfill their needs.

You can apply whether you have technical skills or not.

You can apply if you speak English or not.

  • How to apply

Thanks to a framaforms of course!

I’ll kill two birds with one stone, putting that post up cause I’d love to see more instance admin applying, and sharing the video of Mobilizon presentation at FOSDEM: https://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/FOSDEM/video/2025/ud2208/fosdem-2025-4381-mobilizon-decentralizing-event-management-for-a-privacy-respecting-social-web.av1.webm

Hello,

Thanks to those who responded!

To follow up on this post, for information the representatives have met and shared the issues they care the most about.

Below is the list which came out, that we’ll look at in priority.

We also received many other inputs that are valuable too, for instance from Which changes and fixes would you like? and from our network. Moreover, we have commitments towards NLNet, regarding interoperability for instance. And we also need time to handle merge requests.

That’s much more than we can tackle in a year, so don’t see this list as a road map. I’m just sharing this list for information and transparency on how we are working.

It was a great pleasure to receive those feedback and positive energy from the community representatives!

Are you still taking applications? I’m trying to encourage a reprochement by https://aptaliko.gr/, hopefully to improve communications.

It looks like a nice instance indeed! I love that it’s thematic (on music) and also the nationality and language. They are welcome.

It is dependent on the version of Mastodon in use. With the v4.4.7, the date and place from Mobilizon are displayed.

Thanks for pointing that out!

I think I didn’t get the point correctly at the time. What is missing is a descriptive text (there is ONLY a place and date).

Sorry for the confusion.

Here is the related issue in the git: Improve Fediverse integration (ex: display of events on Mastodon) (#1834) · Issues · Kaihuri / Mobilizon · GitLab
