I got told that PeerTube cant sync with YouTube any more because Google blocked this feature from working. Is this correct/true? Can PeerTube still be set up where when a video gets uploaded to YouTube it is automatically synced/uploaded to PeerTube?
As far as i know, Youtube is blocking some IP. Not all.
The last Peertube version includes options to use several proxy to download from Youtube. But this requires some work for instances’ admins.
So, « it depends ».
Thanks you for telling me this!! Seems like the person told me the truth, sort of, maybe they didnt know about the proxy fix. Do you know if theres documentation explaining the proxy option on how to configure and maybe where its located. Thanks you again for helping me!!
I did not check yet how to configure this feature.
But each Peertube admins has to setup their proxies… And using IP that are not banned by Youtube.
For the record, we saw also some small ISP’s users having some trouble accessing youtube… Because google think their IP are associated to Datacenter…
It’s a pain always having to deal with GAFAM’s changes
OK yes i understand. Yes GAFAM = pain… So i think we will post directly to peertube w/out sync its not that much trouble for a video or 2 or so at a time but it will take more time if someone has a lot of videos to publish now so maybe schedule some time every so often to transfer some videos in bulk to make it easier than all at once time till they all get uploaded. so i think this is what we do now. thanks you again for helping w/this!!!
If you have some programming skills, you can use the Peertube CLI (or Peertube API with custom code) so automate the synchronization from a personal computer, with a clean IP.
Some people were doing so before Peertube implemented the sync. Perhaps you could find some existing code.
I dont have skills to do this but i wish i did, especially now… Will just do the manual way and make that work for now… I like youtube even less than before & I didnt think that was a possibility!! Thanks one more time for the help!
